Synthetic lawn looks good to Swanes Nursery

Swanes Nursery in NSW has used synthetic lawn to create a beautiful green oasis in the centre of its Dural premises, which means it won’t need to draw on precious water supplies.

Mr Nigel Dibbs, a manager at Swane’s Nursery, was looking to create a display oasis in his nursery but was concerned about water usage. He read about Pro-tech’s synthetic lawn in a magazine and was impressed with the realistic ‘grass-like’ appearance of the synthetic product.

“Being a traditional garden centre, we had some reservations about using synthetic lawn, but we recognised that it was responsible to use, especially with the water issues we are currently having,” Dibbs said.

The lawn is part of a garden feature measuring 40 metres squared, which does not require any watering and very little maintenance is needed to keep it looking in top condition.

“The Pro-tech lawn was such an improvement compared to Astro-turf and a broad range of customers have shown an interest. They walk on it and say it feels like walking on real grass.

“The lawn has a lot of potential, especially for people who live in townhouses and have smaller yards,” said Dibbs.

Pro-tech has struck a business partnership with Swanes, making it one of the first nurseries in Australia to sell this form of synthetic lawn.

The synthetic lawn system is based on a unique European concept, which has been brought to Australia by Pro-tech. Pro-tech uses the process of ‘fibrillation’ to split the fibres to give the lawn the grass-like look and feel.

Along with the lawn product, the synthetic putting greens are distributed nation-wide with one recently installed in the front yard of Australian golf champion Peter O’Malley, who joins a host of international golfers to install a synthetic putting green. ***
