Local business installs one of Australia’s first no-maintenance synthetic lawn systems

Local Concord businessman, Bill Rorke, owner of Pro-tech Lawns, has installed one of the first no-maintenance lawn systems in Australia just metres away from his own home in Liberty Grove.

Liberty Grove resident, Betty Rooney, admired Bill’s own front lawn, which looks and feels like the real thing but requires no watering, and was keen to have one installed in her own backyard.

“It looks very real, is an excellent alternative to the usual urban stone you find in courtyard homes, is nice and soft to touch and walk on, and best of all, it is animal friendly,” said Betty.

“The day after it was installed, my two dogs were playing around and napping on the lawn, which I was absolutely delighted with.

“I am trying to convince all my neighbours to think about putting a Pro-tech Lawn in their own yard because it will make the whole area look better,” said Betty.

Bill Rorke says that there is an increasing demand for this new form of fibrillated lawn – a 45mm fibre which looks like the real thing, and is ideal for suburban gardens and a variety of commercial applications.

“We believe that this product has huge potential in the drought-prone Australian environment, particularly as most of our capital cities, including Sydney and Melbourne now have water restrictions,” said Bill.

“Looking after a backyard lawn is a problem weekend chore for many people, with not only the mowing, but the ongoing maintenance.

“There is also the situation in many townhouse and apartment developments, where there are small lawn areas which are shaded and where it is subsequently difficult, or impossible, to sustain grass growth.

“Lawn looks good in these areas and there are often no suitable garden alternatives for such locations.

“Our fibrillated synthetic lawn system is a perfect solution, as it requires virtually no maintenance, will last for at least ten years and, depending on the area, costs less than a good quality paving installation.

Bill Rorke is a former Australian international soccer representative and a keen amateur golfer. His business has now expanded throughout Australia with outlets in every state.

The lawns are a new concept based on unique European ‘fibrillated’ technology, and through his Pro-tech Greens operation he also installs professional synthetic golf greens used by  Australian champion golfer Peter O’Malley
