Local Picton residents install synthetic grass lawn & putting green

No water, no maintenance synthetic lawns and putting greens have been installed at the homes of two local Picton residents, Rob Flaxman and Anne Connell.

Anne Connell, who has recently moved to Picton from Macquarie Fields, has installed a 28 square metre synthetic lawn, which looks like real grass, in her front yard.

Anne says that the current water restrictions in NSW and the hassles of maintaining real grass were motivating factors in her decision to install a synthetic lawn that requires no watering, weeding or mowing.

“I love a perfect lawn, but with water restrictions it is hard to maintain and keep real grass looking good,” said Anne.

“My front yard is on a slope, making mowing a rather awkward and exhausting job.

“My house is starting to feel like a home now, but it won’t be a home until I have a garden, which is coming together very nicely now that I have nice permanent grass.

“It looks like a very healthy lawn that has just been cut and watered. The neighbours think it’s great and the kids can roll around on it without having to worry about bindies,” said Anne.

The synthetic lawn system is based on a unique European concept, which has been brought to Australia by Pro-tech. Pro-tech uses the process of ‘fibrillation’ to split the fibres and give the lawn the grass-like look and feel.

Another Picton resident, Robert Flaxman, installed a 270 square meter putting green at his home in October. The land was landscaped and contoured to create a golf course look-and-feel.

Rob says that as well as playing like a real golf course, the green makes a great landscape feature for his garden.

“I am really impressed with my Po-tech putting green. It is that close to being a real green that it’s not funny.

“I had a golf pro from our local club come and have a look at it and he was impressed with it too,” said Rob.

Pro-tech is a national supplier of synthetic lawns and putting greens, and can be contacted on 1300 554 334.
