Keeping grass green without water – synthetic grass

With level 3 Sydney water restrictions introduced on July 1, home owners are using innovative ways to reduce their water usage while maintaining a beautiful garden. Arncliffe resident Joanne Drake has found a permanent solution to the current water crisis by installing a 50m2 no- water, no-mow lawn in her backyard.

Joanne owns several dogs and installed the synthetic Eco Logical lawn because her previous lawn required constant maintenance and watering.

“I have several large and small dogs and they wore out the regular grass by constantly running around on it.

“I had returfed four times in four years and it never lasted a year. Returfing involves a large commitment of watering and with the water restrictions and the constant dirt and dust, I needed a permanent solution.

“I think the synthetic lawn looks great and feels really soft to walk on. My dogs love to scratch their back on it and have a good roll. They lie out in the sun on it now that it is colder and it seems to absorb the warmth better than ordinary grass so they find it comfortable to lie on.”

“My friends and family think that it looks great. I think it is a great product,” Joanne said.

The Eco Logical synthetic lawn system was created by Pro-tech Corp Pty Ltd and is based on a European concept using the process of fibrillation to split the fibres and give the lawn the grass-like look and feel.

Pro-tech also installs no-maintenance synthetic putting greens, with one recently installed in the yards of Australian golf champion Nick O’Hearn. Both the synthetic lawns and putting greens are available nationwide and Pro-tech can be contacted on 1300 554 334. ***
