Synthetic lawns offer a water-free alternative for landscapers and nurseries
Synthetic lawns, which require no watering or mowing, are now available
wholesale for landscapers & nurseries to sell to those looking for an alterative
in front and backyards, commercial premises and even schools.
Australia's largest supplier of synthetic lawns, Pro-tech Corp, can supply the
synthetic lawn product wholesale for installation by a landscaper or the
homeowner themselves, creating an instant grassed area that requires almost no
maintenance.
Pro-tech's synthetic lawn uses the unique process of fibrillation, which is
based on a European concept and involves splitting 45mm polyethylene fibres to
give the strands a grass-like look and feel.
The synthetic lawn system is porous, allowing water to drain through to the sub
base, is completely safe for pets, and lasts indefinitely with almost no
maintenance.
Pro-tech Corp also expects that, following independent testing at CSIRO, the
lawn system will be classed as a 'soft-fall' alternative in children's nurseries
and pre-schools.
"Landscaping companies and even nurseries are very keen to get their hands on
synthetic lawns that have this kind of universal application. A school in
Melbourne has recently installed a synthetic lawn in their playground.
"We also believe that the lawn is an excellent way for houses to comply with the
new BASIX regime in NSW, where newly developed properties are required to reduce
water consumption by at least 40 percent.
"Synthetic lawns are particularly useful in these circumstances, especially
since councils regard the lawn as soft-scape," said Rorke.
Grathan Leatherbarrow, of Suncoast Landscapes - a renowned Queensland landscaper
– says he now installs synthetic lawns as part of his landscape projects.
"The lawn system is ideal for my residential and commercial clients who are
looking for an alternative surface that requires little maintenance, and no
water, but still looks as lush as grass.
"It is also great in areas where grass is difficult to grow, where there is
little sun and next to pools and on sloping terrain," said Grathan.
The lawn system is easy to install and starts with the preparation of the area
by clearing the existing site and installing a porous crush-rocked base, which
is then compacted to form a flat surface. The Pro-tech lawn is pre-fibrillated
prior to laying and then carefully filled with a mix of rubber granules and
sand.
Pro-tech also installs professional synthetic golf putting greens which play as
true as the world's best championship greens, yet require no maintenance and
watering.
A Pro-tech Green was recently installed in the front yard of Australian golf
champion Peter O'Malley, who joins a host of international golfers to install a
synthetic green including Vijay Singh, Mark Calcavecchia, Sergio Garcia, Lee
Janzen, Hale Irwin and Corey Pavin.
